Mayor of Salado, Texas — 2026 Election

Built for This Work.
Rooted in This Community.

Greg Windham has called Central Texas home his entire adult life. After graduating from the University of Texas in 1992 with a degree in Political Science and Southwestern Literature, Greg understood that the communities he loved needed leaders who understood both how government works and how real economies function.

He began his career in real estate, earning his license and quickly building a reputation for straight-talking, results-oriented work. As a licensed broker representing families and property owners, he has spent 25 years helping people find their place in this region.

“I’ve spent 30 years watching this part of Texas grow. I know what works, what doesn’t, and what we have to protect if Salado is going to stay the place we all moved here for.”

Greg didn’t stop at real estate. He went on to found the Texas Hold ‘Em Dog Club, a community-focused dog boarding and care facility, and Expo RV Storage, a regional storage operation built around practical service. Both businesses remain active today — creating local jobs and serving the Central Texas community.

At home, Greg is a husband and father of four. His family’s roots run deep in this region, and that personal investment in Salado’s future is exactly why he’s running.

Greg’s campaign is built on a simple belief: Salado is growing whether we plan for it or not. His job as Mayor will be to make sure that growth strengthens — not dilutes — what makes this town extraordinary.

What Greg Will Fight For

Every position Greg takes is grounded in one question: does this make Salado better for the people who live here, without raising their taxes or eroding what makes this place special?

Save Salado Creek
Work with TCEQ & Local governments to advocate against waste water permits allowing developers to dump treated water into the soul of our town.
  • Advocate against wastewater permits for developers
  • Work with TCEQ & local governments
  • Protect Salado Creek from treated water dumping
  • Defend the land and water that define our community
Responsible Growth Planning
Growth is coming to Salado whether we’re ready or not. Greg will ensure we have infrastructure, zoning, and development frameworks in place before demand outstrips capacity.
  • Proactive zoning and land-use planning
  • Infrastructure investment before growth arrives
  • Transparent development approval processes
  • Long-range planning that respects Salado’s character
Economic Growth Without Higher Taxes
Government must live within its means. Greg’s business background means he’ll drive revenue through smart development and tourism — not by reaching into residents’ pockets.
  • Youth sports tournaments driving visitor revenue
  • Music, culinary & historical festivals
  • Bring a dog park to Bell County in Salado
  • Pro-business, low-friction local policy
Festivals, Tourism & Local Commerce
From youth sports to cultural festivals, Greg will pursue events and initiatives that bring visitors to Salado, fill local restaurants and shops, and build the town’s regional reputation.
  • Youth sports tournaments drawing regional visitors
  • Music, culinary & historical festivals
  • Strengthen local restaurants, shops & hospitality
  • Build Salado’s reputation as a destination
Preserve What Makes Salado Special
Committed to preserving the charm of Salado while preparing for its future. Every growth decision will be weighed against what makes this community worth living in.
  • Protect Salado’s historic downtown feel
  • Support locally-owned businesses over chains
  • Maintain the small-town charm that draws people here
  • Community-first development standards

“Old Values.
New Ideas.”

Greg’s platform is rooted in the belief that the best government is the one that gets out of the way — but plans carefully for what comes next.
